Boxers or Briefs?
For the longest time, there have been essentially two choices when it comes to underwear for men. The two choices are so ubiquitous that it has become a joke among talk shows and ice-breakers for conversations. The conventional wisdom says that men’s underwear only comes in boxers or briefs. You have to choose; each one has their advantages and disadvantages. Those who choose boxers are choosing comfort to be their top priority—they’re choosing the roomy qualities of boxers, while sacrificing many other features. Those who choose briefs are opting for security and support over actual comfort.
Boxers are one of two most popular choices for men’s underwear. Boxers are typically defined by being loose throughout the legs. They’re popular because they’re not tight throughout the legs and offer superior comfort. You are able to move freely in a pair of boxers; however, that looseness means that they tend to bunch up if you wear somewhat snug pants. They also move around a lot while you’re walking around or working out. That moving and bunching can become incredibly uncomfortable; moreover, that bunching can create some unsightly lines under your pants. So what’s your other option?
Briefs are typically defined by being snug and tight to your leg and they’re also typically shorter than boxers. The amount of elastic in a pair of briefs tends to cramp and bind when you’re trying to move around or even when you’re just sitting at the office. However, briefs create smooth, clean lines underneath your pants and provide you with a high level of support while you’re moving around. With this being said, that support comes at a cost; briefs tend to be fairly uncomfortable especially if you have large legs or need extra room in the crotch. Luckily, there is a third kind of designer men’s underwear, which is made to combine comfort with support.
Trunk underwear is considered the best of both worlds when it comes to the blending of briefs and boxers. They combine the support and clean lines of briefs with the comfort of boxers. Trunk underwear is a kind of underwear that is essentially boxer shaped but made of snug nylon and spandex. The nylon and spandex hug the waist and the thighs so that they form a close fit but don’t squeeze your legs too much. That close fit prevents bunching underneath your pants as well as hides the lines of your underwear when you’re wearing snug pants.
The nylon and spandex also create support in the underwear when you’re sitting around or when you’re moving.
On the other hand, trunk underwear is shaped to provide the roominess of boxers. They are cut very carefully to allow you a lot of room to move around in your underwear.
When you’re looking for underwear, you might think that you have to choose between comfort and support; however, that’s not the case. You can choose a third option—choose a pair of trunk underwear that combines both.
